Production Diary Week 29

This week we added the title onto the video, we was now happy with all our shots and editing and felt it was finally finished.

We now began using WIX to start our website, this week we decided on colour schemes and pages.
We decided to use bright colours like our video, therefore we used purples, blues and pinks. For pages we also decided we wanted a opening page, a home page, a tour page, a galley, a about me page and finally a shop. We based these pages on the previous websites we have looked at before.

Production Diary week 28

This week we continued you to edit. We added in more narrative shots, this time of her getting ready, as we felt that the narrative didn't flow aswell before. This has given the video much more flow to it and as the narrative continues we feel it will engage the views alot more as they will want to see how it unfolds.

Production Diary week 27

This week we experimented alot with editing, using black and white and adding colour. To let the editing reflect the song. So we used black and white for the begining when she is hating on her boyfriend and then colour to show when she is happy and over him. We also used over lay so that the shots looked more interesting.

Production Diary Week 26

This week we carried on editing our video, we have added more lip syncing now we have got the hang of adding it in by keeping the sound on from where we played the music in the background so we know what words we was dealing with. We added more narrative in but we didn't like it because it didn't look natural.

Production Diary week 25

This week we created our first draft for our video, We didn't have much footage so we couldn't fill the whole video. But we begun to link the lip syncing to the lyrics this is where we came across our first problem as we hadn't expected how difficult it would be, but after lots of try's and cutting the lip syncing down to each lyric at a time we managed to link these well. We also really liked our shisha shots as we felt they reflected the cool vibe of the song really well side by side. Once putting the other narrative shots in we found they got confusing alongside the lip syncing as they was all looking at the camera.

Production diary week 24

The week we filmed our last narrative shots to tie the story together, these included the shots of me getting ready and walking at the beginning, these gave us a more story like feel to the video and i think this will engage the audience more as they will want to follow the story. We experimented alot with different camera angles firsly through the mirror and also walking over the camera, these gave a very interesting look and gave more or a variety to the shots.

Production Diary Week 23

This week we continued to work on our digi pack. From our feedback we have found out what photos we should defiantly use, the lips and the floral one. Therefore firstly we tried to add the title onto the digi pack we started with this on the chest of the star, but found it got lost into the kisses and couldn't really be seen. Therefore we created another draft with it to the left, we found this looked much better, as it filled the blank space and didn't get lost within the kisses. Next we decided to focus on the layout and how to ensure where each shot needed to be so they would match together when they was foled. We found out that the CD needed to be in the top center, this meant we could not have the floral photos over two shots as it would then get in the way of the CD, therefore we chose to add another glitter photo, so you could see the styling of these shots aswell as the face make up in the close-up. We also added a lip photo, but as it was at an angle so the CD didn't fit properly. Therefore on the final one I have decided to decorate the CD with animations rather than a photo.

Production Diary Week 22

This week we begun to start putting our digipack together. We did 4 drafts over the week developing each one. We begun with a range of shots from mid shot, close up and long shot and a range of effects from bright to black and white. If the first draft we decided that some of the photos we're not as flattering and that the black and white stood out too much. Therefore in our second draft we included them all colorful so they flowed more, we also included an extreme close up to show even more variety. We was also unsure if we should use the floral photo over one or two pages of our digi pack so tried it in this shot over just one, but found we prefered it over two. In our third digipack we therefore put it over two and decided to remove one of the mid shots as we already had a lots of them. At this point we received our feedback on the 4 we already had to help us move forward. We found out that the close up and floral shots were working really well and that everyone prefered the front cover to be more colorful.

Production Diary Week 22

This week we started taking the pictures for our digipack, we focused on three main looks kisses on the body, glitter on the face and flowers in the hair. These looks all reflected the bright and colorful theme we have tried throughout the video. We took a wide variety of shots so that we could make choices on what we preferred.

Production Diary Week 21

This week we focused alot on editing. We added the color over the skateboarding and trolley shots, this really allowed them to stand out more and look bright and colorful, again linking to our keep themes. We also editing the photoshoot shots with the "shutter effect" which allowed us to stop the shot and give the effect of an image being taken, this helped us improve from our practice as we added photos into that to create this effect which really stood out and were not as much quality.

Production Diary Week 20

This week we took shots of the narrative, we tried these in a park to create a more child like theme, we feel like this went really well as they looked much more happy being seen laughing and joking around, although we felt the first park shots had almost gone the wrong way and were too childlike, also the narrative actors didn't look very natural in these shots. We also found a sign with "keep out" on it which we edited in the section "danger zone" so that the shots would reflect the song and keep them flowing together. When editing we also found the amount of grey in the skateboarding shots really allowed us to add color easily, again keeping to our theme of brightness and color.

Production Diary Week 19

This week we did more lip syncing shots, we tried them infront of backgrounds on a projector at first this didn't work due to the background not being bright enough or the lighting from the projector making the images go fuzzy, so we re tried them again using lighting to stop the fuzzieness and different backgrounds that stood out more, we then found these shots more successful. We used these background rather than on location shots as it would eliminate other people getting in the way and ensured the focus being mainly on the star.

Production Diary Week 18

This we begun to think about our digipac, we created some sketches off different ideas we could think off. Drawing them helped us see them more visually, we then reflected these back to our research and saw that our first design didn't match the conevetions of the digipacks we had looked at before as they included only or mainly the star and we had included the narrative in our digipack to. We then drew a second idea which we feel more confidently about, although we had only taken inspiration from the shots we have done already so we feel like as we continue with out video we may find more ideas for our digi pack.

Production Diary Week 17

This week we took more shots of our narrative, partying with friends. Since looking at theses shots we have decided not to use them. We realised the narrative was looking at the camera too much, this again made it confusing with the artist and narrative was. Also the lighting was very dark and dim which didn't fit in with our bright theme we have used throughout. We also decided that partying showed an older angle of our narrative so decided to make her do more teen activities so that it could fit the song more and beat more, also this allowed us to reflect a lot on the keys words we had chosen before for our video.

Production Diary Week 16

This week we started to edit our first shots we took in London. We started to brighten them and increase the contrast to make them stand our more as we had lost a lot of lighting, we experimented with short and long shots, from our research we had found that we needed to use more short shots and therefore felt we should take more lip syncing in varied locations so that it didn't get boring and so that we could use small parts of each shot.
This week we also retook our photo shoot shots for the real thing with different people, these came out better than the practice shots, due to the setting being more white and clear and the lighting reflecting on the people better, we also styled all our artist in dark clothing so the props would stand our more. We started to edit these to the beat of the song which at first was a struggle as it can be hard to hear the beat but after practise we found it easier, we feel like editing to beat worked well and we would like to do this to more of our shots.

Production Diary Week 15

This week we begun filming our first shoots, we did these in London we begun doing shots of our artist singing infront of graffiti and with sky scrapper background. We also filmed our narrative in a shisha bar and also messing around in fountains. We got shots of our narrative infront of the graffiti too. From these shots we realised the struggles of filming in busy places, so therefore have gone back to our storyboard and considered different places that are less open to the public we could film. We also decided we wanted the shots between the narrative and artist to be in different places so the two did not get confused. Therefore from now on we will decide who will be filmed in each place before we go. The shots we found worked best were the shots infront of the bright graffiti and also the narrative shots, as both of these reflected the cool trendy vibe we was aiming for, for our artist and star,

Production Diary Week 14

Now out video was planned we decided to try out some practice shots, we begun with the "photobooth" shots we wanted. From practicing theses we realised that we couldn't have our artist and narrative in the same shot. Also we decided they would look better with more people. Finally we decided the props could be better fitted with out colour scheme that we are going to use throughout.

Production Diary Week 13

This week I have continued to finish my storyboard, ensuring all the shots are exactly what we want and are in detail, we also got feedback of what our target audience, young adults, would like to see in our video, and what impression the song gives them.

Also this week I have looked into how I want to style my artist, including hair and make-up and looked on youtube to see how to create our perfect look. To fit our artist image we are trying to give the and also to fit the narrative of our song.

This week we have progressed with our planning and have moved onto making our story board, we have spend alot of time thinking of what we want to include in our video and how to portray it in a way that will match our genre and artist.

We also emailed our artist to inform them we was using there song and ask there permission.

Production Diary Week 11

This week we have progressed into looking at planning for our own video. We have created a mood so we can get a visual aspect of our ideas. This has helped us bring all our ideas together and seeing it visual has given us more inspiration.

From our mood board we briefly looked at the lyrics from our songs and gave our first ideas.

We have also looked into possible locations we could use and clothing. We have tried to ensure that we have kept it fitting in with our genre and music video conventions.
