Behind the scenes photos

Here are our behind the scenes photos from the digi pac, they show how we created the make-up on the stars face using glitter, and also how during shooting we had to continue to add to this and as we had decided to do laying down shots we had to keep re doing the hair to make sure it hadn't fallen out. Also in these photos you can see how we added glitter to the flowers we bought so that we added more of the glitter feel to ensure the photos linked.

Digi Pack Feedback

At this point we chose to get feedback on our 3 digi pack drafts to see what our target audience thought of our digi packs so that we could be sure they agreed with us.

From our feedback we found that our audience liked the close up alot, we decided it would be good to keep a variation of shots anyway so are going to use this. For the front cover we found that the kisses and the flowers are the most popular, We have chosen to use the kiss one as we think there is more room for the title to the left of her.

Sketches of digi pack ideas

Here are our first digi pack ideas, we have taken inspiration from the photo shoot shots we have already taken. On the first one we have taken shots from that using artist and her friends with the props. We have reflected on these and think that these may become confusing again between star and narrative. We also think that the focus needs to be mainly of the star and not her friends, which I think is lost in our first idea.
Our second idea we have tried to use the same look of a photo shoot but in more of a focus on the star, therefore we have different shots of her in locations used in the video, such as graffiti wall and the bridge. We have also changed the main photo shoot idea of jus the artist not with friends, but we have left one with friends but think we could have the friends in black and white and her in colour to make her stand out more.

Risk Assessment

Activity
What is the risk?
What can you do to prevent the risk?
Risk Factor
Crossing Roads.
Filming up London we will have to cross many busy roads. There is a risk of me or one of my group members getting hit by a car.
To prevent this, my group and I will make sure we always use a crossing (if one is available). We will also make sure we are aware of our surroundings at all times.
High
Traveling to and from our destination.
We will have to get trains and tubes to reach our several destinations. There could be a risk of one of us falling on the tracks.
To prevent this we will make sure we are calm and don’t rush anywhere.
High
Traveling in rush hour.
We expect to be finished filming around 5-6pm. As this is rush hour the trains and streets will be very busy. There could be a potential risk of my group and I getting split up in the crowd.
To prevent this we will all make sure we save our phone battery throughout the day so if one of us does get lost we can contact each other.
Medium
Handling glass.
Another location we will be filming at is my house. When filming here we will be handling glass. There could be a risk of someone dropping the glass and further resulting in someone cutting themselves.
To prevent this we will make sure we don’t mess around when handling the glass.
Low
Painting.
We plan to use paint to smudge over our artist’s body. This could potentially get into someone’s eye or on someone’s clothes.
We will be very careful when applying this and also wash our hands after wards to prevent this.
Low
Tripping over wires.
When filming inside we will have wires around because of lighting that we will be using, therefore someone could trip.
Before we begin to film we will make sure we all know where hazard wires may be and also try to make the walk space we are using as clear as possible.
Low
Weather.
Our artist will have to stand in a range of clothing outside and inside. If she is wearing an outfit that reveals her arms and legs she could become cold as we are in winter. Also the other members of the group could become cold whilst filming too.
To prevent this we will all make sure we wrap up warm and have a coat on standby   for everyone who will be filmed.
Medium
Falling off Skateboard.
We are filming using a skateboard, however our actress has never used one and isn’t steady on it. We need to be careful that when using the board she doesn't fall off and injure herself.
To prevent this we will make sure she takes her time with what she is trying to do and practices beforehand.
Medium
Round about in park.
Playing on the round-about in the park we need to be careful one of us doesn't fall off or get our foot stuck under it when trying to spin.
Although in the shot the actors are supposed to be messing around, when filming we will be very conscious of what we are doing.

Hair Ideas - natural curls

Again we found that because we was focusing a lot on lips and eyes that our hair should be natural. We therefore tried out natural curls, we used this video to help, we found this useful but still looked a bit much so we decided on straight hair or a pony tail.

Make-Up - Natural look

As we had chosen eyelashs and lips that stood out we decided we want the rest of the make-up to be very natural. We used the video to ensure it looked good, it helped us alot to make our artist not look over the top.

Make-Up Ideas - Eyes

We wanted our make-up to look consistent so as we was using bright lips we decided to ass false eye lashes to so the whole make up stood out. We had an idea of how to put these on anyway but used this video to ensure they looked very professional. This video really helped and we feel the eyelashes helped our styling alot.

Make-up Ideas - Lips

We have decided to make lips an icon in our music video, we have looked a different lip colours but also thought it would be interesting to try out a lip tattoo to make the lips stand out more, We found this very helpful but when we tried it ourselves it ripped off alot and we didn't prefessional so chose to not use it ourselves.

Inspiration

When planning our video we took lots of inspiration from different stars, here we have included which stars we have take direct influence from. This has helped us make our star and video look as believable as possible and very professional, although we still plan on putting our own creative twist on it.

Lyrics & Ideas

Lyrics: black
Ideas: red

30 second intro -
Show the scenery and the performers face. Also shots of the girl telling the narrative walking around London or coming out of the train station.
Shot idea: - have the girl drop a necklace that her boyfriend gave her into a fountain or bin.

Oh no, the pennies dropped.
How did my focus stop?
I never let desire lead me blind.
I can't get enough.
Here we could have the performer in front of a graffiti wall or on a bridge, simply singing.

Oh no, the force is strong.
You know ya done me wrong.
I never let a feeling lead my mind.
I gotta rise above.

Close up of eyes and tears running down face, showing that she has been hurt.
The lyric 'rise above' is when she begins to realise she needs to get over her ex-boyfriend. Here we will start to show her having fun. Maybe in a shop or buying something from a weird stool in London, doing something she doesn't normally do.

Don't need to fret.
Cause if I was to take you home,
What's left when the danger's gone?
I never let a feeling lead my mind.

More shots of the performer in cool locations.

Would you like to know me better, baby?
Then what you could show me is better, maybe?
Well, I sure don't wanna waste your time.
Sure don't wanna waste your time.

With friends at a site or land mark.

So let me tell ya that I'd be better off without you.

Duck down, the bull is gone.
Slow motion, switch me on.
I never let desire lead me blind.
Won't give up.

Shots again of the lip singer. Could also add an effect of slow motion to go with the lyric.

Freeze frame, I dodged that shot.
The bigger pictures not good enough.
I never let a feeling lead my mind.
I gotta rise above.

Could slow the shot down so it become more of an image, whilst the performer is singing.
Or could show the girl holding an old picture of her and her boyfriend then her ripping it up/throwing it away.

Don't need to fret.
Cause I would rather be alone.
Than with you in the danger zone.
I never let a feeling lead my mind.

Show her doing something outrageous on her own.

Would you like to know me better, baby?
Then what you could show me is better, maybe?
Well, I sure don't wanna waste your time.
Sure don't wanna waste your time.
So let me tell ya that I'd be better off without you.

Shots of her in a bar interacting with people. Increase pace of shots.

Better, better, better off without you.
Better, better, better off without you.
Better, better, better off without you.
Better, better, better off without you.

Would you like to know me better, baby?
Then what you could show me is better, maybe?
Well, I sure don't wanna waste your time.
Sure don't wanna waste your time.

So let me tell ya that I'd be better off without you.

Shot idea:
The pace of the song picks up, bringing the song to an end. To show her having lots of fun in a cool  location we could go to Granary square fountains and show her playing around in them, alongside shots of the lip singer.

Fade out 10 seconds

Continue shots of the lip singer in different locations.

Mood Board

Here is my mood board, I have shaped it in a music note so that it stands links more to our music video. I have included firstly clothing looks we want to include, these are ripped jeans, checked shits and plain white and black looks so that we can stand out against the background. I have then looked and our theme lips and included photos of lips and colours that I would like to use. I have also included locations we plan to use such as graffti, bars and london. Finally i have looked at activities we could do such as photobooth drinking and skateboarding, This will be good to refer to as it has all my ideas on it and is a good place to look for inspiration in a creative way,

Ellie Goulding

Since creating the initial our idea, we have looked at similar videos to see the best way we can portray this. Ellie Goulding is someone we have looked at throughout because we find she is similar to the artist we would like to portray. She has an indie vibe but still with a pop appeal. Here I have looked at her Goodness Gracious video, which I find alot of inspiration.
